The World

The world of Rigaria contains the non-magical, magic casters, and magic melders. It is ruled by a class of casters. Rigaria has been losing magic over the years and has reached a point of destabilization. Some believe this could have been prevented; even more hold the melders responsible.

When a melder child is identified, the child's magic is bound as it is believed melders go mad and burn anything and anyone close to them.

Are melders as lethal as the Caster Council asserts? Do Lynkyn Forests only exist in fairytale imaginings? Can melders create dragons out of thin air? Who will defy the status quo?

From The History of Melding and Dragons: Melding and casting at the same time results in fire, floods, ice, or drought. Combinations of these destructive forces can occur and have occurred.
Definition: Dragon dreamers are melders who can pass into the Void and speak to dragons trapped there. (Caution: repeated dragon dreaming may cause an increase in melder magic pressure.)
Zyla Powerbane is under pressure.
Controlling magic is trouble enough, but enough is never the limit of trouble.

• She is popular with dragons trapped in the Void. A girl needs her sleep.
• Lynkyn Forests, the historical home to dragons and melders, are re-establishing their connections and demanding aid from the one melder they all trust: Zyla Powerbane.
• She stole a mad melder from her mentor and protector.
• The mad melder finds her efforts amusing; when not amused, the melder sweeps.
• She’s becoming a master at broom repair.
• The Void is breaking down: death to the dragons, release of the dragons, or something in between.
• Seguin either loves her or hates her; she doesn’t know which would be safer.
• Her mentor is doing everything in his power to protect her or everything in his power to control her. It’s a tossup.
• Seguin doesn’t trust her mentor.
• Her mentor chose Seguin as her protector.
• It’s all very confusing.
If Zyla doesn’t figure out who to trust, which task to perform, or which to perform first, she is going to pick the wrong one. Any wrong decision could destroy the lands of Rigaria. All of them could destroy her.
